A proud day - Felix MXP

Cheryl Greer wrote me a very excited email on Sunday, February 22. She had just arrived home from an agility weekend in Decatur, AL. Her Loteki Total Windfall earned his MXP on Saturday.

It was a wonderful accomplishment that few probably would understand, but Cheryl and I know from where Felix came, so we and a few other friends, know what an accomplishment this is. Felix had to overcome a very serious brain injury as a young dog. He had very serious physical issues to over come, Cheryl has believed in Felix and worked hard to make this happen. Cheryl wrote, "Felix finished his MXP yesterday (10 qualifying scores in Excellent B Standard Preferred) and, as I promised him, I didn't show him today in Standard. He can now run Jumpers only and continue to add to his MJP2 title (he has 6 legs now towards his MJP3). He finished his title yesterday with a double Q and 2 blue ribbons. Our boy is now Loteki Total Windfall RE MXP MJP2 but those titles are so much more than letters." Wow, that brings more tears, I cried when I read the email the first time and I am weeping yet again. I am so proud.

Cheryl showed Jackson who got his 4th MX leg on Sunday and a 4th place. He qualified in Jumpers on Saturday also!
It was a very good weekend!

A very sad day....

Valentine's Day....a day of love, but this year it was a day of loss.

LOTEKI DENZEL MAKE ME FAMOUS CD RE
August 7, 1994 - February 14, 2009

Early Saturday morning, I heard from Kelli & Jeff Alseth (MN). Sad news, they had lost their beloved little Maker to heart failure. He was 14 years, 6 months and 7 days young.

Kelli and I would laugh that none of her dogs ever were older than 7, and certainly "Bug" (as he was affectionately called) was the youngest 14 plus year old dog one could ever meet! He was always in fast forward, in fact he had a lot of trouble backing up any where!

Maker entered the rally ring at 11 and 1/2 years young. He earned all three Rally degrees! He was quite the crowd pleaser as he would throw himself into the job at hand. That was how Maker handled life just throw himself into whatever it was he was doing.

Thank you, Kelli and Jeff for loving Maker and providing him with a wonderful home all these years. He will remain in the hearts of all that met him forever.

Later in the day, I received an email from Charlotte McGowan (MA) that she had just lost her CH Loteki Life Of The Party. "Giggles" was just a month short of her 17th birthday. Mrs. McGowan had seen Giggles as a young bitch and persuaded me to let her have her. Giggles completed her CH title quickly. She then went on to be one of Mrs. McGowan's foundation bitches for Rorralore Papillons.

Giggles obtained her Dam of Merit, (an award given by the Papillon Club of America for females that produce 4 or more champion offspring), quickly and then went on to be awarded a Dam of Distinction award. (This award is for a female that produces 10 or more champion offspring). Giggles stopped at 11 champion offspring.

I was at Mrs. McGowan's home with Giggles whelped her first litter bred to CH Kenrennie Kirsch. The stand out in this litter was CH Rorralore Dainos, who was a multiple group winner and specialty winner.

In her later years, Giggles would be but a lump on her bed, until it was time to be fed and she would come alive - very demanding. She had to have a pot to clean or it really wasn't a true meal! Giggles slept on the bed and was a very much loved part of the McGowan household. I know Giggles has left many sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters and so on, so her legacy will go on. Her passing has also left a huge hole in Charlotte's heart and in her home.

On February 3rd, I received an email from Joanne Moore (IN), who wrote of the loss of her "Pappy". He was her constant companion for 16 years. Joanne wrote, " His spritely gait, perky face and loving personality had all that met him become his friend. To me, every time he came near he was like a fresh breeze wafting over me."

So now three more Loteki Papillons are chasing butterflies and three families that have huge holes in their hearts and in their homes and I, too, am typing through tears, remembering each of them as babies, their births, their leaving for their new homes, exciting phone calls, Christmas cards, notes and emails about each and everyone of these precious Papillons. After 31 years, it never gets easier.

Fly free, my friends, fly free.
